Capitol Reef National Park

Have you been to Capitol Reef lately? It's one of Utah's best kept secrets. Packed with human and natural history, as well as some great hikes and stunning views, Capitol Reef is a great place to spend a few days. Even in the winter!

Don't be sending people here in the winter - we like the place to ourselves 8-)

I've been posting photo stories about explorations of the area at The Torrey Tales which might interest people thinking of visiting.

Sorry, Bob, I tend to agree with you. I know there is a fine line between sharing something awesome and opening it up to being over-loved and thus over populated and (often) trashed. Look what happened to Moab!

OMG! your picture at http://www.bobpalin.com/articles/Ride_20050220/images/img_001.jpg is exactly what I encountered on the ride from hell that has me still traumatized about driving on clay even today!

Obviously I like to share and we need the people in the summer. The winter's are actually great, cold air but hot sun and blue skies.

That road in the picture wasn't too bad as it had a lot of sand, the ride the week before that I called The Ride of Shame was truly terrible. I was so concerned about getting out at all that I didn't take any pictures of the bad places!
